The Virtual Art Room for Born to Draw
Teaching art for nearly three decades is the best way I have found to give children skills that last a lifetime. I have been hauling around art stuff that amount to a 10’x15’ storage space. The expense over the years is awesome when it is totaled so I cannot “just throw it away.”
I have to tell you these materials comes in handy now that I am moving my teaching online starting one day a week, Wednesday’s starting September 18th, 2013. Registration for classes has started. Many lessons are from the Step by step instruction projects found in the Born to Draw™ iBooks published through iTunes and the LIONap, who specialize in children’s educational books.
You can find all the resources you need to teach drawing and or follow along with the first year’s lessons, all 35 weekly lessons.
Now if you just want to learn art for yourself, your children or teach it in a classroom setting you can enjoy all the benefits of having taken art classes by experiencing the lessons found here. Whatever your needs, this site is sure to keep your creative juices flowing and provide the interactive online training one needs.
The classes are geared for beginners k-6 grade. The prerequisite required are the students must know how to draw, circles, squares, triangles and ovals, to make up the pictures. There are teacher’s manuals that include blueprints for Born to Draw™ Common Core Educational Standards Alignment for reading, language arts, history, social studies, math and science for classroom rubrics.
Materials can be bought locally or purchased as the Born to Draw™ kits through the Born to Draw™ website.
I will increase the offerings as the year progresses. The Born to Draw™ Virtual Art Room provides a student art gallery and projects that were a part of my self-developed curriculum. You may submit students’ work for the online student gallery, each school will have its page. Check out the Born To Draw website for more ideas and fun things to do. Thanks!
Artwork workshops for Professional Development will be offered across the state of New Mexico and Texas through the Cooperative for Educational Services for districts interests in the Born to Draw™ program offering for their schools. I am encouraging national and international registrations where creative projects can be tried among groups who believe in that Born to Draw™ is about creating a community of people who believe that art education is fundamentally important. Where to learn to draw transforms skills and ways to communicate creative ideas.
